Update: Looking for concrete information regarding the alleged case of a sex offender who moved

On Tuesday, February 6, 2007 I sent out the following message. Since then I've been receiving anonymous e-mails from various individuals who are stating it's true.

Here's an example of what is being said:
"The children's identities, reputations and lives will be destroyed by going to the police. I know that to be true as fact. Many Jewish communities do what they can to destroy the neshema of survivors who come forward. They do what they can to support the offenders. If the parents of children would go to the police, our rabbis would no longer be able to protect the molester.

Do you know if there's laws in place in which the police and courts protect the names of sexually abused children and their family members? The problem is that Jewish community member will still do what they can to smear the reputation of those who come forward."
The Awareness Center has a dilemma. Do we make the name of an alleged sex offender public when the parents of the abused children are too afraid to make a police report? One of the goals of our organization is to encourage individuals to report all sex crimes to law enforcement. If a parent is to afraid please contact your local rape crisis center and they can answer all the questions you may have. There are many rumors out there about how cases like these would be handled in the secular world.

Rape Crisis Centers offer free legal advocacy and counseling. The legal advocates at a rape crisis center can walk you through the process. If you choose to go to the police they will help you file a report. They will help you if your case goes to court and make sure your rights are protected.

Remember witness tampering is illegal in this country. If anyone in a community harasses a victim or witness to a sex crime they can end up in prison. This can only happen if the individual who is being harassed reports the crime to the police. When a survivor is hooked into a rape crisis center, the advocates at the center will help you make reports and do their best to make sure your rights are protected.

Looking for concrete information regarding the alleged case of a sex offender who moved from Brooklyn to Passaic, NJ

There are rumors floating around that a man in his early 30's molested several boys in Brooklyn (Flatbush). The alleged offender was then chased out of New York and moved to Passaic, NJ.

The rumor continues stating that someone in the Passaic community raised enough money to purchase the alleged offender's home (for above the fair market value). The understanding was that the offender would leave the Passaic community.

There is also a rumor that there was some sort of special meeting in Passaic in hopes of educating parents in dealing with sex offenders living in their community.

What's missing from this story is if the parents of the alleged child victims made police reports? If they didn't and this story is true, it's vitally important for everyone to encourage them to contact the police immediately.

The only way things will ever change is if law enforcement gets involved and if everyone works with the police and supply them with all needed information.

If you have any information regarding this case please contact The Awareness Center.

Sincerely,
Vicki Polin, MA, ATR, LCPC - Executive Director
